Looseleaf & Caffeine~Free Herbal Tea

Breath of Wellness is an herbal tea to support both the immune & respiratory systems.

Mullein is a wild and weedy plant ally with an affinity to the respiratory system. Mullein is used in herbalism to help relax & soothe the lungs, alleviate dry cough and to assist in calming asthma. Verbascum's mild relaxant & demulcent properties help to soothe the lungs of inflammation and dryness which are often the causes of irritation for people with smoke exposure or other irritants. Mullein becomes enhanced with the properties of marshmallow root for bronchial support. Mullein leaf has also long been used as an expectorant to help clear respiratory congestion, as it promotes the ejection of mucus from the lungs.

Marshmallow root helps to soothe the lungs with its demulcent, antitussive properties. It can bring comfort from irritation of the throat, may reduce swelling in the lymph nodes, speed up healing time and reduce dry cough. Marshmallow is especially effective at beating a cold or the flu when combined with anti-inflammatory and antibacterial herbs. If you feel symptoms of respiratory infection coming on, Mallow Root can be used at the first sign of discomfort (such as swelling, burning and tenderness) to support the healing process. Marshmallow's powerful active ingredients help to break up mucus, reduce inflammation and kill bacteria naturally.

Reishi mushrooms help detoxify the body and fight inflammation. Reishi mushroom is adaptogenic and helps one’s ability to naturally cope with stress levels thus allowing the body to return to a more relaxed state. Reishi’s anti-stress effects are believed to contribute to easing tension, strengthening and balancing the immune system, sharpening concentration and improving memory. Reishi is immunomodulating.

Licorice root also appears to enhance immunity by boosting levels of interferon, a key immune system chemical that fights off attacking viruses. It has analgesic action and has been used in fever reduction. Its anti-allergenic effect is very useful for hay fever, allergic rhinitis, conjunctivitis and bronchial asthma. Possibly by its action on the adrenal glands, licorice has the ability to improve resistance to stress. It should be thought of during times of both physical and emotional stress. This root eases congestion and coughing by helping to loosen and thin mucus in airways, making cough more productive. Licorice also helps to relax bronchial spasms, soothe a sore throat and fight viruses that cause respiratory illness.

Astragalus root is another immune supporting herb. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, it's been used for thousands of years to help fight off stress and disease. Astragalus can act as an anti-inflammatory, may help protect the cardiovascular system & may reduce blood pressure. Many elements in astragalus help fight free radical damage.

Ginger root contains anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antibacterial and anti-viral properties. Ginger can help ease pain in the body and reduce irritation/inflammation or other discomforts caused by a cold or flu. It's expectorant properties help loosen the mucus from lungs and sinuses. As a diaphoretic, ginger root helps to warm the body to promote sweating to flush out toxins. Its antispasmodic properties may help to reduce stomach cramping if flu symptoms are present.

Peppermint contains menthol- a soothing ingredient known to relax the smooth muscles of the respiratory tract and promote free breathing. Peppermint has cooling, antihistamine and decongestant properties.
